A Christmas Carol Catastrophe!

Nov 27, 2026 - Dec 20, 2026

Crown Theatre & Austin Scottish Rite Theater Present:

Directed by Tobie Minor

Written by Trey Deason

Christmas comes once a year, and is a time that opens the door to memories of holidays past, gratitude for blessings present, and hopes for a prosperous future. So, what better way to celebrate this special time, than to put on a show?! And not just ANY show, but THE show.

Join a ragtag troupe of performers as the desperately try to put on the most profound and moving production ever produced of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”…..within budget.

Unfortunately, things don't work out as planned. The venue has been double booked, the beleaguered stage manager is performing double duty as Bob Cratchit, and the actor playing Ebeneezer Scrooge is missing, forcing the even-more beleaguered director, to play the role.

This band of merrymakers attempts to bring it all together despite facing hurdle after hurdle that threatens to ruin the holiday spirit and stop the show for good. But, ever the consummate professionals, the show must go on, and the gang do their best to arrive at "God bless us, everyone”, as they discover along the way that love, hope, and friendship are some of the most beautiful blessings we hold, no matter the time of year.

A Year With Frog And Toad

Apr 17, 2027 - May 9, 2027

A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe... all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical, perfect for introducing theatre to youngsters while keeping adults entertained, as well. This Theatre for Young Audiences version features a shortened running time and doubling options, allowing for a cast of five, which makes it a great option for theatres with touring programs or strong educational components.
